The masthead is in big bold
writing, taking up a whole line on the front cover which makes it clear to the
audience what magazine they are reading. The points of some of the letters are pointy
which backs into the background as there is danger of fire.
The dateline is positioned under
the m’ of the magazine title. It has the date of the magazine, the issue number
but also a website where you can look at the magazine online. This is helpful
as people may not want to buy paper copies that they are going to throw away
but they would rather just have a look at it online and save their money.
For the main image, there is a
single shot of the hunger games actress, Jennifer Lawrence. It is used in a
direct way and so she is positioned to be looking right at the reader. Behind
her is a big flame of bright orange fire to tie in what film she is promoting
which would be part of ‘The Hunger Games’.
There are a few cover lines
included in the magazine cover which have been distributed around the page to
make more of an impact for the reader. The colours for the text in the cover
lines are yellow and so they reflect on the background of the main image
without distracting the reader from the main story.
The bar code is positioned at the
bottom right of the magazine which is very common for most magazines. Although
this is a standard barcode that many magazines include, it has its own logo
positioned to the left of the barcode.
