Genre Research
One of the genres that I think would be interested in doing for my film would be a horror. This is because I think I would have a chance to show the skill of making sure that the audience do not know what is coming next. This is because during a horror film, the audience is usually surprised which is mainly the reason that makes it scary. Also, doing a horror film makes it easier for people to know who the target audience it by watching it. The target audience would be older people and adults for this film because young children would not like things such as blood and scary surprises as they may suffer from nightmares. I think that this would be effective as it follows all of the codes and conventions of a horror film and so the audience would know what to expect.
Another genre that I would like to do is a romantic comedy. This is because I think it would be intriguing for the target audience. I would achieve this in my group of three as we will all contribute to what we think would make a good rom-com and then we can discuss and combine the ideas to make a good film. This would be something that the target audience would know if it is related to them because the start of the film would start off with something that would catch the target audiences eye, making them want to carry on. I think the main target audience for this type of genre would probably be women as women are the ones that usually open up and talk about their feelings and are into more 0of the romance films. Whereas, stereo-typically, men do not like to show their emotions and so this may not be a film to suit them, however, men are more into comedy and so they may watch it to see the funny side of the film.
Another genre of film that I would like to do within my group would be an action film. This is because it is a type of genre that could appeal to everyone, however, on the other hand it may come across that it appeals to men a lot more. The reason that I would like to do an action film is because I think that a lot of skill can be shown through these types of film but there is a lot of different things that could be done that can be associated with action. Many action films do involve cars chases and fights but it is possible to create an action film without these as we could film a fight that looks real.
