Mood Board

This mood board highlights the scenes that our essential to our  trailer. For example our theme of movie will be based around a family and this is represented by the happy family being placed in the center enjoying an evening dinner together. The characters displayed at the top shows our character will consist of a young vulnerable girl, the father and the mother. The piano shows our dietetic sound tat is going to be included in our trailer to add tension and build up. The house shows our location that it is going to be set in which links with the dark figure that walks into the house unaware, adding enigmas.

Own Film Treatment

Our opening shot begins with the father playing the piano, where we pan around the room to see the family. We then have them having a conversation around the table, which creates the atmosphere of a neutral and happy middle class family. However, as we see the mother and father angry at each other, it indicates that their life isn't as perfect as they are portrayed to be. As the little girl interrupts her mother and gets pushed away we see her run away from all her problems.

This is then represented as we juxtapose to her as a young adult, who is shown to have nobody in her life. The audience are then going to be able to get a feel of this when she is shown to go and use a phone box but has nobody to ring. We know this as she picks up the phone and puts it down again suggesting that she has not even dialed a number yet but gives up anyway. This allows her to be represented as the stereotypical vulnerable and lonely young adult that she is.

When she finds a scratch card on the floor slightly hidden, she moves into a warming home, cheap off the market. However, she does not realize that the house she gotten so cheap is haunted, in the way of an unknown killer targeting a certain group of people of the same gender.

The tension starts to increase as we are shown missing posters of young adult girls who lived in that house and the audience are aware that 'Elle' our character has moved into a haunted house targeted by a killer.

Sitting by the front door having a cigarette, her lighter flickers out, running into the kitchen to get a new one which is when a black figure walks through the door and up the stairs. Unaware of his presence, Elle begins to go upstairs. As she is about to get into the shower she hears little girls laughing. She looks out the window to find no one is there. Tension is still building up as audience are unaware of what is going to happen next.

After the shower she goes into her wardrobe wearing a robe and picks out clothing, the killer stands behind her and as she feels someones presence she turns around in shock, dropping her clothing. However, nobody is there and her and the audience feel a sigh of relief. She turns back in her wardrobe feeling stupid and paranoid. However, when she feels something brush against her leg she slowly looks down in worry and sees an arm sticking out of the wardrobe. As she screams the killer tries to grab her from behind however she pushes him off her and runs down the road. This is then incorporated with the flashback of her as a little girl running down the road fearfully. Cutting into black to the title 'Elle'. This would leave a cliff hanger to the audience wondering whether she got away and reported the killer who has been around for centuries or whether she got killed.

Shot list - In my film trailer

There are going to be a few main shots that we are going to use in our film as we want to make the audience feel part of the film and by using some basic shots but executing them well, we will be able to create a realistic film trailer. These shots are:

Extreme lose up - A close up shot of someones face to show the emotion in the film trailer. This is going to be useful in our film when we want to show how a character is feeling. Also, if we want to make something appear more dramatic, we would use this to emphasize an object or what someone is doing.

Long shot - I am going to be using a long or extreme shot in  my film trailer when I want to show the different settings of my film which makes any particular buildings or surroundings that are well known to stand out such as a shot of London and the famous London Eye and so the target audience would pick up on this which would make our film trailer appear to be highly budgeted.

High angle shot - I am going to be using a high angle shot in my trailer when there is a shot of a group of people around the table. The effect of this is that they are going to be happy and it is just going to look as if they are just living in a 'normal' and stress free life.

Close up - We are going to use a close up shot to show something in detail such as a shot that we are going to use of a car with a male character driving. This is going to create tension for the target audience and they are going to question who is the driver and what is his motive.

Font Research

Here I have researched the font "Lucida Sans". Due to our film being a thriller/action we wanted to make sure we followed the conventions of action titles to allow people to recognise our genre. Our title would be displayed in capital letters like a lot of action titles to allow it to be bold. As well as this in action films such as Taken 3 the letters are displayed slightly apart which makes the title stand out more. I then incorporated this title choosing a light grey colour and black background. This is successful in following codes and conventions of the genre as the silver/grey colour allows a sharp edge against the black ground and is still very traditional.

This font appealed to me due to the fact our genre is based on thriller as well as action. This is due to the thinner writing compared to the title above with thick and bold writing which has created more of an eerie and mysterious atmosphere, as well as being bold which is successful of an action. The perfect mixture of these two makes it much more effective if displayed in our trailer.

Finally, this thin writing gives off a more mysterious and sinister look compared to the other two which both contain action. This still contrasts with our trailer due to it being full of enigmas and cliff hangers therefore a more mysterious and eerie title can be effective.

Film Trailer Plan

This is just a basic plan that we have mapped out and so we know what we are going to include in our final trailer. By doing this we are aware of how many characters we are going to include in our film, where the film is going to be set and what props we may need.

Representation in our film trailer and stereotyping

The genre of our film is a thriller and so the audience would be expecting something that creates tension and excitement as the main elements. They would expect something that makes you question what is happening which is something that we would like to make successful in our film trailer. To do this, we are going to leave some of the questions that the audience may have to be unanswered and so they would want to see the film to find out what happens. By making this successful, it would build tension for the audience and a mood that relates to the story line of the film, keeping them engaged with the film trailer. There is a slight 'cliffhanger' in our film trailer when there is a shot of the girl and then the screen fades to black and when it comes back on, there is a missing sign which makes the audience question and wonder what is going on.

Stereotypes are conformed to in our film trailer. The first stereotype is based young children who are seen to be vulnerable and defenseless which is shown when there is a shot of a car coming towards her and she does not know what to do. This would make the audience start to question why this would be happening if she was unable to protect herself, which backs up the stereotype of them being powerless. Many films use the idea of small vulnerable children as they want the audience to stoat use with her.

There are then stereotypes of men in our film trailer that are shown to how people are believed to act or do. This includes men being in charge as they have more power and control over women. This is conformed to when we have a shot of the male character grabbing the female characters arm. The audience may see this as a way of the male character having control over the women. This is showing their stereotype of them being strong and in charge while leaving the female character feeling similar to the little girl which is vulnerable and weak.

The stereotypes of women are also conformed to as we see them as weak and dependent on the male character. With the female character in our film trailer, the audience see her as mostly constantly frightened of her husband which is how many females in reality are living there life. This helps the audience to relate to the film as it may be something that they may have gone through in their ljfe. We see the female character act upon the scared and vulnerable stereotype when she breaks a plate and the camera cuts to a shot of the male characters face and his expression changes.

Conventions of Film Trailers

Film production logos - These are often included in the first section of the film trailer. By doing this the production company's logo can benefit from this as they are able to attract a particular audience that may be interested in the particular logo that is included. Also the logo can give the audience an idea of what to expect in the film trailer, for example, if a Disney logo was included, the audience can expect large budgeted and family friendly films that has a wide and clear target audience.

Film title - The film title is included in every film trailer, whether that is included at the beginning of the film or right at the end. The effect of having the film title at the end of the trailer is that after the audience are interested in the film, they will have the name of it still fresh in their mind. The font and the colour of the title are used to tell the audience what genre the film is. For example, the harry potter film title is written in a different style but stays the same throughout all the film posters. The writing is either in yellow or a silver grey and the font is crooked but swirled in a particular way to suggest mystery for the audience.

Age certificate - This is important as it protects a particular audience from seeing something that may distress them or is unsuitable for them to watch. For example, They put the certificate age of 15 or 18 on films as we know these are going to contain unsuitable language and images that are not recommended to be seen by a young child or baby. Vice versa for younger children, if it contains a U or PG certificate, we know that this is going to be a family friendly film and so it would suit the needs for the child and may not appeal to someone aged 18 and above.

Social media - As technology has improved over many years, many film trailers now include links to the different networking sites or little signs such as hashtags to symbolize twitter or links to facebook and so people are able to ask questions about the film before they go and see it. By doing this, it encourages the audience to do more research about the film rather than just watch the trailer. This would then build to the target audience talking about it as they will have more understanding of what the film is about which would help to broaden the numbers of the target audience.

Character introductions - These are done and so the audience are able to recognise and characters that may be part of previous films which would help the audience to connect and relate to the film if they are able to understand the characters.

Soundtrack and voiceovers - the music is key in a film trailer as it sets a pace for they trailer and also relate back to what the genre of the film is. This could also suggest the budget of the film as if it was a high budgeted film, an artist may be asked to write a particular song or soundtrack for the film. Voice overs are used to guide the audience through the trailer and to help them understand the plot of the film. This could be diegetic or non-diegetic.

Release date - This tells the audience when the film is going to be released and so they are aware of when it is out and when it is available for them to go and see it. This is usually done a couple of weeks before the film is released and so it gets the audience excited and attracts more people, creating a wider target audience.

Captions - These tend to contain the directors and the producers names and so they are able to get credit for their work but also, it allows people to recognize them from previous films, which builds up a huge fan base, making them become more popular with the target audience of the film. Also, if people recognize the director or the producers name, they may know what type or film to expect. For example people may recognize Stephen Spielberg from films such as 'Saving private Ryan', 'Catch me if you can and 'Schindler's List' and so the audience would expect a Drama film as this is the genre he mainly focusses on.

Genre Research

One of the genres that I think would be interested in doing for my film would be a horror. This is because I think I would have a chance to show the skill of making sure that the audience do not know what is coming next. This is because during a horror film, the audience is usually surprised which is mainly the reason that makes it scary. Also, doing a horror film makes it easier for people to know who the target audience it by watching it. The target audience would be older people and adults for this film because young children would not like things such as blood and scary surprises as they may suffer from nightmares. I think that this would be effective as it follows all of the codes and conventions of a horror film and so the audience would know what to expect.
Another genre that I would like to do is a romantic comedy. This is because I think it would be intriguing for the target audience. I would achieve this in my group of three as we will all contribute to what we think would make a good rom-com and then we can discuss and combine the ideas to make a good film. This would be something that the target audience would know if it is related to them because the start of the film would start off with something that would catch the target audiences eye, making them want to carry on. I think the main target audience for this type of genre would probably be women as women are the ones that usually open up and talk about their feelings and are into more 0of the romance films. Whereas, stereo-typically, men do not like to show their emotions and so this may not be a film to suit them, however, men are more into comedy and so they may watch it to see the funny side of the film.

Another genre of film that I would like to do within my group would be an action film. This is because it is a type of genre that could appeal to everyone, however, on the other hand it may come across that it appeals to men a lot more. The reason that I would like to do an action film is because I think that a lot of skill can be shown through these types of film but there is a lot of different things that could be done that can be associated with action. Many action films do involve cars chases and fights but it is possible to create an action film without these as we could film a fight that looks real.

Institution Research - Warner Bros

Warner Brothers also known as Warner Bros is an American producer of films, television programs and  and music entertainment. The Warner Bros is made up of three brothers called Sam, Albert, Harry and Jack. The three brothers, Sam, Albert and Harry emigrated with their parents to North America with their parents. However, Jack being the youngest brother was born in London.

At the very start, the three brothers began in the movie theater business and so they had gone and brought a projector and so they could show films in mining towns.  Sam and Albert invested $150 to present Life of an American Fireman and The Great Train Robbery which lead them to opening their first ever theater called Cascade.

After a long period of ignoring Sam's request for sound, Harry agreed to accept Sam's demands, as long as the studio's use of synchronized sound was for background music purposes only. The Warner Brothers signed a contract with the sound engineer company Western Electric and established vita phone In 1926. Vita phone began making films with music and effects tracks.

Certificate Research - 18

A film that is rated an 18 is a film that has been made for adults. No one under the age of 18 is allowed to buy or rent an 18 film and they are not allowed to go and watch an 18 in the cinema. If you do look under the age of 18, you may be asked for ID before being able to purchase a cinema ticket for an 18 film. None of the work done in an 18 film is suitable for children.
Adults are free to chose their own entertainment as long as the material that they are using is legal or not in anyway harmful to themselves or anyone around them. This therefore makes it possible that some themes that are included in an 18 rated film could come across as offensive to some of the viewers.

Issues that may be put into an 18 rated film:

* It may contain very strong language
* Frequent strong language throughout the film
* Clear views of sexual activity
* Horror scenes that many may find disturbing
* In some circumstances, there is visual scenes of sexual activity
* Discrimination that many people may find offensive and disturbing

Certificate Research - 15

No one under the age of 15 is allowed to buy or rent this film at all.. They are also not allowed to go and see a 15 in the cinema if they are younger than 15. No theme is put into the film that is being made as they assume that any scenes place in the film or video is suitable for a 15 year old to see.

What might be included in a 15 rated film?

Strong violence
* Frequent strong language
* Sexual activity may be involved in a 15 rated film and strong suggestion of sex
* Nudity
* Drugs
* Behavior that would not be suitable for anyone under the age of 15.

There may be racist comments involved in a 15 film as they are at an age when they can be mature about the film and what is involved within it. Homophobic and other discrimination is also acceptable.

Certificate research - 12

A 12A rating is only used for the films that are shown in cinemas. Films rated 12A are suitable for children 12 years and over. However, children aged younger than 12 are able to see a 12A film as long as they are accompanied by and adult.
The 12 rating is only found on DVD's and videos as no one younger than the age of 12 is allowed to buy or rent a 12 rated film.

Age rating issues for 12A and 12:

- The themes must be mature and their behavior in a film must be suitable for young teenagers.
-  The language such as swear words like f*** are not allowed to be said throughout the whole film, however, it may be said once or twice in a 12/12A rated film.
-  There is allowed to be nudity in a 12/12A film but it must be discreet if it implies that there is going to be sex involved. It also has to be brief whatever nudity is involved.
- Sex is allowed to be suggested but can trigger to what a 12 year old is thinking. It may also reflect to what they may hear in public or in school. Frequent rude suggested sex is not allowed as it is not allowed to effect a young teenager.

Certificate Research - PG

PG stands for Parental Guidance which means that the film is suitable for people to generally watch the film but some of the scenes that are included within the film may not be suitable for young children to watch. Therefore, they would need the parents permission before they are allowed to watch the film.

Not all PG films are made for a specific audience but it just means that it does not want to unsettle any children with some of the scenes and so it is up to the parents whether they would want their child to watch it or not. PG films will not generally include any scenes that will definitely upset a child but it may occur in a film. There may be bad language in a PG film but it would only be mild language such a 's**t' or 'son of a b***h'.

Violence does not really occur in  PG film as that is the type of behavior that would be made in an older film and so the audience would know that it is not serious but it is not something that should be done in reality.

institution research - Paramount

Paramount Studios was founded in 1912 and is one of the oldest film institutions but still one of the most successful. It is a division of the American media company 'Viacom'. They are known for a wide range of films over a range of genres but they are also a television production company and motion picture distributor. It has a name of 'the big six' due to this. In 2014, Paramount Pictures became the first major Hollywood studio to distribute all of its films in digital-form only.

Analysis of The Guest - Thriller

The film trailer starts off with a panning shot of the setting looking deserted and cloudy of dirt which is when the camera comes into focus on a character walking towards the camera. The shot then quickly changes to a close up shot of the same character with his back towards the door and so it shows his back facing towards the camera. When the camera changes around onto the opened door, we see a female character in the door way. The camera is at a close up showing the emotion of on her face which is seen to be upsetting. This is effective as the audience are able to sympathize with the character, however, this may be where enigmas start such as why is she crying? and what is he doing at her door? There is a slight moment when there is diegetic sound when he is talking to her. He addresses her as Mrs Peterson which suggests to the target audience that she does not know him and that he has high levels of respect.

The camera then fades out to a production credit and fades back into a scene of both the characters that were introduced earlier to be inside the home. The camera changes to a medium shot a girl as she speaks in a gentle tone, which suggests vulnerability of her character. There is non-diegetic sound playing over the top of the characters conversation which is quite soft, suggesting that they are calm and gentle. She then mocks him as she mimics 'yes mam' which suggests that maybe she is trying to lighten the mood without being offensive. We as the audience get this impression judging by the way she is looking at him and then her eyes slowly fall, looking at the floor and then back up to his direction.

When the camera fades back out, there is a two shot of the first character and a new character talking at the table. This suggests to the audience he is just an innocent person that has come in peace. As the shot goes on, the camera quickly fades to black which is used to introduce a new setting of the film. There is diegetic sound coming from a school bell which the audience may be able to relate to as this is what usually happens in day to day life. This may help the character to feel more comfortable with the film but also they are able to understand what type of characters are going to be in the film and so this will help to aim towards the target audience. In this scene, we get to see the first act of violence between two kids at the school which is typical in reality in a school, which may relate to many of the target audience as they may have kids and so they may have experienced this behavior.

From that moment on, the trailer is packed with fast paced and upbeat music which creates more tension for the target audience, also making it appear to be dramatic and powerful. We as the audience get to see the car chases and police sirens which are conventional in this particular type of film genre along with action films. We also hear gun shots and see gun shots and hear crashes which excites the audience into what is going to happen next.

The Dark Knight Rises - opening

When the film starts from the very beginning, its starts by showing the target audience the logos such as Warner Bros and Legendary which are some of the biggest film studios in the world. The effect of putting these at the start of the film is that people recognize these logos as a way of saying that it is a good film because these logos are famous and known world-wide.
The sound that is being played when the logos come up in the screen is quite a up-beat but slow temped. The music in the opening scene is quite faced paced and upbeat. The effect that this has on the audience is that it create a dramatic effect causing the audience to feel like something is going to happen. There is then non-diegetic sound when there is a noise that sounds like a whip playing over the top of the music. The effect of this is that it creates tension for the targeted audience and it also adds effect to the film. The music then turns to a slower pace but then eventually speeds up. This carries on throughout the whole of the opening scene. There is also diegetic sound when the characters are talking over the music. At this point the music is at a slower pace and it quieter.
The main character at the beginning of the film is clear to the audience as he is given the most prevalence when the film starts. The next main character is also a male. The audience knows who the target audience is as he hold the most power when they are up in the helicopter. We can see this because he is the one holding the gun and everyone is doing as he says around him. However, the character with the mask on his face suggests to the audience that he has a lot of power as he talks up them which suggested main character. The effect of this is that it makes the audience wonder who is the one in charge and who everyone id obeying.  The lighting in the first slight clip seems quite dark and mysterious. The effect of this on the audience is that it may cause them to feel like something bad is going to happen. This may also suggests to the audience that the main character talking is dangerous which may explain why the camera is face directly in front of him. By doing this, the audience if force to concentrate on him, what he is saying and what his point is and why he want everyone to know it. When the camera changes to the scene in the helicopter, the lighting gets brighter as the camera is using the natural light for effect. The effect of this on the audience is that the audience is intrigued to know what is going to happen. This will interest them more and make them want to carry on watching the film to find out what happens next.
In the first slight clip on the main male character talking, the camera is aimed directly in front of him. The effect of this is that the audience are forced to look at him and directly aim all of their focus on him The camera is at a medium shot suggesting that we as the audience are forced to focus on the expression that is set on his face and so we visually can see what emotion he is feeling at the time that he is talking. When the camera is in a helicopter, the camera turns from a medium shot to a close up of the main character holding the guns face and so we can see the emotion on it and we can see how determined it is as an audience. The camera continually mores from different shots such as long shots, medium shots and close ups rather quickly and so the audience is able to see what is happening from all angles. The camera then has a shot from outside of the place at a high wide angle. The effect of this is that the audience is able to see the whole of the setting.

The target audience for this film would be boys and men aged 12+. This is because by watching the film, we can see that majority throughout, the men are given almost all prevalence on screen. Also the cover of the film may not appeal to women as it is dark and mysterious which is a stereotype that is aimed at men, therefore, this would associate completely oppositely to what women are stereo-typically seen as which is colourful, sweet and pretty.

Taken - Action

The first shot that we see of this trailer is a long shot of Liam Neeson which is one of the main characters throughout the film. This is important for the target audience to recognize him as he is one of the unique selling points of the film, he has been part of successful films and so people would recognise him for this. The shot quickly changes to a close up shot of him hugging his daughter which suggests comfort and safety which suggests that it is not part of the codes and conventions of action films as violence. This is also suggested by the setting around them as it is brightly coloured.
There are continuous shots fading in and out as there is a voice over still telling the story of what is originally in the film. The shot quickly pans out to a high angle shot of Paris and the famous building of the Eiffel Tower which is an iconic building that people would instantly recognize. The shot then jumps to a shot of both Liam and his daughter talking together in a low and sad tone as if she was patiently pleading with her father but then this quickly changes to a scene of them as the airport. Quickly, the shot cuts to Liam Neeson looking into a camera and as he is about to take the shot and the shot flashes, the screen cuts to black and then a title jumps up on the screen saying ‘20th century fox’ which is a popular production credit to most films. This would be easily recognizable as the audience would have possibly seen it when watching other film trailers or the film.

The camera shots changes quickly, fading in and out of different close up shots and then cuts to a shot with two different setting on the screen which shows the audience how the characters are talking to each other and so it makes us feel like we are in part of the film. This is effective as it makes it more realistic for the target audience. The camera continuously fades into a full screen of one character and then cuts to a shot of the split screen. In one of the split screen settings, we see the bottom of someone’s legs and feet which creates enigmas for the target audience such as who is that? What do they want? The shots then get fast paced as it continues with the split screen. This creates panic for the target audience as we see a close up of the girl and we get to see the emotion on her face. The screen shows flashing lights as if to represent the fast movement of the characters and the shots that are being displayed.

The audience then see continuous flashing split shots which then we see the bottom of the legs and feet again which creates tension for the target audience. The camera then shows the girl being pulled out from under the bed and we see the emotion on her face as scared and frightened. There is diegetic sound when the girl screams. This makes the audience sympathize with her as she is presented as an innocent and vulnerable girl. This represents the stereotypical views of teen age girls in films. The edits of the camera shots show fast paced images representing flashbacks which creates an atmosphere for the audience and makes them to want to continue watching the film.

Final Girl - Action

The first shot that we see at the start of the trailer is a close of a little girl which suggests to the target audience that she is innocent. Due to a close up used, they want us as the audience to see her expression on her face and almost feel sorry for her. The emotion on her face as seen from a quick glance suggests that she is vulnerable and we as the audience would automatically sympathise with that. The shot used in this first shot is a shot-reverse-shot which intrigues the audience as they are able to see who is talking each time when the conversation continues between the only two people in the shot. When the conversation ends, we see another close up shot of the girls face and she gives the impression that she is happy which makes the audience feel like she is just a sweet little girl that does as she is told. The transitions that are used in the first section of the trailer are fades in and out of a shot to make it less harsh for the audience to watch and helps to imply the vulnerability of the girl in the trailer. There is diegetic sound when they are having a conversation but there is also non-diegetic sound from before the first shot is shown which girly, slow paced music is playing quietly over the top of the conversation which mellows down any tension that may have been built up and creates a softer atmosphere.

As the clip fades out it changes to a long shot of a car driving towards the audience. The setting is dark which tells the audience that it is in the evening but also that it is not for the younger audience as it is dark and 'frightening'. The music changes when the shot changes to a faster paced track which helps to build up that tension for the target audience. The shot then quickly changes to a close up shot of the characters that are in the car. The way that they are positioned is quite simply and so we as the audience are able to see each character clearly. This is important as the audience are going to want to know who is involved in the film if they have not read up about it before or they want to see if they recognize anyone from previous films. The shots from that point on start to change quickly with the use of transitions to help create the effect that the audience should be expecting something to be happening soon. There is always that one character that is made out to be the charmer in the group which may intrigue the audience, however, they do find this out from early on in the film trailer. In this little section of the film trailer, each of the four characters are given their own little title and so the audience are aware of who to look out for in each part of the film and what to expect from them. As the titles for each character continue throughout the film trailer, they show the audience what to expect from each character such as the ‘mastermind’ looking sexual; as he is staring into the camera suggesting that he is the most teasing a flirtatious character in the group. It then jumps to the ‘hipster’ character which shows him pretending to dance and kiss an axe which suggests that he is the most dangerous character out of the group. The audience then gets to see the ‘heavy hitter’ which rounds off what to expect from him as we see him whacking a post box with a baseball bat and so this tells us that he is the violent one out of the characters. Finally, we get to see the ‘ladies’ man’ and as he is in a bedroom alone with a female character, suggesting that he is the one to sleep with the girls and be sexual towards them.

The next shot slowly fades out to black but then almost instantly jumps into a dramatic shot of the girl running through the woods. This instantly creates enigmas for the audience such as what is she running from? Where is she going? However, these are instantly answered when we see one of the male characters chasing after her. The clip jumps to a close up shot of their faces, however, this is not a hundred percent clear as we see the dark fog covering their faces and so we are unable to see their impressions but then it fades to black for a couple of seconds and we see a distant shot of the girl against the tree and the four boys all standing facing her while they point a gun in her direction. The way she has the light on her suggests purity and the boys are all in the dark suggesting that they are evil.

The titles that are showing up throughout the trailer are short which makes it affective for the target audience and it builds tension while they continue to watch the trailer. The titles are short and quick and so it does not take long for the audience to read and they are able to get back to watching the short clips from the trailer.

When the shot appears in the trailer of the male character labelled as the ‘mastermind’, he is seated with a blonde girl as we know this is his type as it was clearly stated early on in the film trailer. This suggests that he is they type of person that usually gets what he wants and what he is after. There is a close up shot of the blonde girl showing her emotion which gives off the impression that she is innocent due to her pale skin and the light is shining onto it making it appear brighter. Although she is presented as innocent and sweet, the emotion on her face does not show as scared as it comes across as a much more sassy look. The shot then fades to black and then quickly of a two shot of the two people sitting in the shop window which comes across as more romantic although it is raining outside. The shot of the girl putting on lipstick as there is a voice over from the male character saying to come wearing red lipstick suggests that she does as she is told and she had high levels of respect as a child.

The shot then changes to a shot of the four boys and the girl all standing together. The four boys are wearing black and white suits while the girl is dressed in a red dress with red lipstick against her pale skin which suggests that they want the girl to be seen towards the audience as innocent, sweet but also the colour red connotes sexual temptation and passion. The surrounding of the woods suggests the film to be horror as it is dark which also makes her dress stand out as it is bright red. The shots then turn fast passed and the music is much more upbeat which gets the adrenaline pumping for the audience and creates a more dramatic atmosphere for the audience. They show clips of the girl being beaten and hit repeatedly showing that she is weak and that she has no strength to fight back. The clip then changes back to when the girl is being trained contrasting her weak side compared to what we are now seeing as strong and more of a masculine side. The title of the film then flashes up on the screen with a black background and white writing which makes it clear for the audience to read and they are not distracted by any backgrounds or images.

The shot then changes to the girl but looking a lot rougher, cut and bruised which suggests that she has won the fight. She is shown to be eating cream with her finger which makes it look pure and fresh compared to her appearance. The screen then blanks out to black which then quickly flashes up of a shot of an outline of the girl with a title saying ‘coming soon’. This is effective as it is telling the audience to look out for the film when it is released.
